See Through Their Eyes — Fresh Start Awakening

See Through Their Eyes

It's easy to call them a monster when you're the one with the scars.

It's easier to call them heartless. Cold. An insensitive monster.

A simple verdict gives the pain somewhere to land. If they were just broken inside, then the story makes sense, right?

But here's what we never admit: we're not psychologists. We never saw what built them.

What you never saw

We don't know what their childhood did to them. We never sat in the rooms where they learned that love was something to survive, not something to trust.

We don't understand the hormonal storms that can turn a calm mind into chaos. We can't measure the emotional damage they carried into the relationship long before we ever arrived.

And we probably never will truly understand why they hurt us.

That's the part nobody wants to hear — that some questions don't get answers. But here's the one that does set you free:

What if it had absolutely nothing to do with you?

The question that changes everything

What if you weren't too much, too little, too sensitive, or not enough? What if you were simply standing in the path of someone else's war — a war that started decades before you showed up?

This doesn't excuse what they did. Wrong is still wrong.

But it changes what you carry. Because as long as the story is "I wasn't worth loving," the wound keeps reopening. The moment the story becomes "they were fighting battles I couldn't see," the weight shifts off your chest.

Understanding someone doesn't mean letting them back in. It means letting yourself out.

Your 7-day practice

Healing isn't a single realization — it's a repeated choice. For the next seven days, do this:

When the memory rises — and it will — pause. Don't fight the thought and don't feed it. Just stop for ten seconds.

Put your hand on your chest and ask quietly: "What pain might they have been carrying that I never saw?"

You won't get an answer. That's not the point. The question itself loosens the grip. Every time you ask it, you trade judgment for compassion, and compassion is where healing lives.

At night, write one sentence about what shifted — even if the shift is tiny. "Today the memory came and I didn't spiral." Small evidence, collected daily, becomes proof that you're changing.

What to remember

You don't need their apology to move forward. You don't need to understand everything. You only need to release the belief that their brokenness was a verdict on your worth.

That's when the healing gets faster. Not when they change — but when you do.

Today's practice — sit with this message for five quiet minutes tonight. Then share it with someone who needs it.
